La Mesa RV is a client that comes around once or twice in an entire career. A wrong turn, a sign that reads "Coming Soon-La Mesa RV’s New Tucson Site," a simple phone call and the end result is a business relationship that’s in its 9th year.
La Mesa RV hired Telecom Advisors Group, Inc. in mid-1999 to assist in the acquisition of new phone systems for its new locations in Tucson and Mesa. The contract also included the design of a voice and data connection between the two sites. Telecom’s solution was to implement a point-to-point T-1 connection between the two locations for high-speed data transfer and four-digit dialing for internal communication and voicemail. Following the successful installation of the applications and equipment, La Mesa RV executives decided to hire Telecom for a larger project.
The new project, contracted in November of 1999, was Telecom’s largest project to date. Basically, it involved the redesign and implementation of a new company-wide voice and data network that included locations in both Arizona and California. The project required a much more detailed approach than the two-location network Telecom had just finished. The scope of work involved the Mesa and Tucson sites, one other Arizona location, and five in California, including corporate offices in San Diego. The challenge to Telecom was to roll out an enormous new voice and data network, while keeping downtime at all locations to a minimum.
Telecom achieved its goal through careful coordination with all vendors and facility providers. Designing each phone room to accommodate voice and data equipment, plus networking equipment, was one of the many hurdles Telecom overcame. Another was getting the two different local exchange carriers and the interstate facilities provider on the same schedule. The implementation challenges of this network made it one of Telecom’s most difficult, but rewarding, projects.

Infrastructure now in place, La Mesa RV still depends on Telecom Advisors Group for professional advice and guidance on technology-related matters. Recently La Mesa RV asked Telecom to review and analyze their cellular and long distance services. Telecom continues to assist when new locations are added to the network.
When asked how it feels to be the technology leader in the RV market, La Mesa RV’s MIS Director Steve Avery simply says, "We’re working to lead the way in all areas. This is just the beginning."
